The Georgian Lari is the official currency of Georgia, introduced in October 1995 to replace the interim kuponi, which had replaced the Soviet ruble. The National Bank of Georgia manages monetary policy. Georgia's growing tourism industry and significant foreign direct investment have supported the lari's relative stability.
